Explore 27 Best Practices in Sustainable and Intercultural Early Childhood Education!

The SUSIEE Consortium has conducted extensive research on the most innovative and sustainable practices in early childhood education and care (ECEC) worldwide. The goal was to uncover and share the best exercises, methodologies, funding opportunities, and projects that are pioneering new ways to shape the future of ECEC.

Inside the Handbook:

  • 27 Best Practices: Collected by the SUSIEE Consortium, including 9 local practices, 9 from non-partner countries, and 9 from outside Europe. The diverse project team brought their unique perspectives to ensure a rich and comprehensive collection.

  • Tips and Materials: Practical advice and resources for educators who want to try out these practices.

Exciting Examples from the Guide:

Italy: Emotional Education

  • Inspired by Paul Ekman's neurocultural theory, Italy's APS Naturalmente created a program where children aged 0-3 use images and facial expressions to recognize and understand universal emotions, fostering emotional intelligence early on.

Denmark: Forest Kindergartens

  • Denmark's forest kindergartens emphasize child-centeredness and autonomy by encouraging kids to learn and play outdoors, building independence, self-confidence, and resilience in a natural setting.

Australia: Environmental Sustainability Strategy

  • At Acacia Kindergarten in Mount Gambier, Australia, children learn about recycling, composting, and conserving energy through daily activities and community events, fostering a lifelong respect for the environment.

These inspiring examples showcase how different countries are embracing intercultural and sustainable practices in ECEC.
