The Seed Balls activity involves the creation of small natural bombs made by children to scatter seeds of various plants in gardens . The activity is carried out using clay and seeds—in our case, wild seeds of herbaceous species that are rarely found in our region. During the activity, the children showed great interest and curiosity, both in the theoretical explanation provided by the teacher and in the experimentation, creation, and launching of the Seed Balls .

The activity requires a slow and adequate pace; we estimate two days to complete the entire process. Download our guide for this and many other educational ideas.

We believe that making Seed Balls is important and useful for multiple reasons. First of all, it allows children to touch and manipulate natural elements with different textures, temperatures, and properties . It also helps them become familiar with the concept of sustainability and the environment. On top of that, they engage in social play in nature, which supports both cognitive and social development .
